Digital

I’ve conceived, managed and contributed to various projects in the field of “Digital Humanities”. In particular:

  • Middlemarch Critical Histories
    • Collaborated with Sierra Eckert and Jonathan Reeve, as part of the Literary Modeling and Visualization Lab at Columbia University
    • Developed methods and built tool for detecting quotations from George Eliot’s novel Middlemarch in a large collection of academic journal articles and book chapters
    • Wrote article with Sierra Eckert: “What We Quote: Disciplinary History and the Textual Atmospheres of Middlemarch“, published inVictorian Studies, 66.4 (Summer 2024)
  • The Writers We Keep Quoting
    • Expanded quotation detection methods from Middlemarch Critical Histories to a broader range of novels (e.g. by Charles Dickens, Marcel Proust, James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, Toni Morrison) and theory texts (e.g. by György Lukács, Roland Barthes, Judith Butler, Silvia Federici)
    • Collaborated with JSTOR Constellate as well as students, faculty and staff at MIT

If you’re curious about these projects or about using the methods developed for your own research, please get in touch.
